Programme Overview

The Coordinated Public Education Programme (CoPE) lis a initiative led by HKU Pharmacology and Pharmacy. By empowering community pharmacists as frontline healthcare partners, CoPE raises public awareness of primary care pharmacy services, enhances health literacy and supports preventive care , which aligns with the Primary Healthcare Blueprint and Chief Executive’s Policy Address.

Aims

To strengthen the role of primary healthcare pharmacy as a core component of public health, promoting community pharmacists as essential providers of accessible healthcare guidance and resources in Hong Kong.

Objectives

  • Increase public awareness of primary healthcare pharmacy services, highlighting community pharmacists’ role in supporting health management and preventive care.
  • Enhance health literacy by educating the public on self-care practices, equipping them to make informed decisions about their health.
  • Provide supplementary education on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) to support self-care and preventive practices.
  • Implement a streamlined, periodic promotion strategy to reinforce core messaging around primary healthcare pharmacy.
